I have laid off any comments about W for a long time. I had said all I cared to say about him, but it's time for what I hope will be a final parting shot in this message to George.
The world will cheer and breathe a collective sigh of relief when you are out of office. We will always remember you because you made us laugh, but you also made us cringe.
You have embarrassed us all with your chest thumping and foolish rhetoric. We were not laughing with you, but at you.
We cringed whenever you said something on the world stage because it followed a narrow script devised to bring the semblance of cohesiveness and consistency to your presidency.
Your words were those written by a speech-writer to project an image of a tough guy. You are not a tough guy. A broken record is more like it.
We deserved better, but in the end, a lot of people voted for you. Not once, but twice. What does that say about us? I don't know, but I hope we can improve.
